Evans Barnes isn't the course anybody puts on a top-100 list, and that's the whole point. It's a nine-hole muni on the campus of Lurleen B. Wallace Community College in Andalusia, built in 1977 and named for the man who designed it. Eighteen tee boxes so you can play it around twice, flat and walkable, the kind of place you can loop after work for the price of lunch. Drawn hole by hole, laid out the way it actually plays.
This is the course somebody learned the game on. The muni where a dad and his kid played their first nine, where the regulars know each other by name and the round costs less than a sleeve of good balls. Augusta gets the magazine covers, but this one means something to the people who actually play it. Made for the regulars who've walked it a thousand times and still call it home.
